Description: Heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown. Figured grain patterns such as curl, crotch, and burl are also seen. Grain is usually straight. Walnut is very durable and decay resistant, though it can be susceptible to insect attacks. Typically, easy to work with. Glues, stains, and finishes well. Responds well to steam bending.

Common Uses: Furniture, cabinetry, gunstock, interior paneling, and turned items.
